In the spring, an LNP article stated that a 7Brew would be opening across the street from Starbucks on Lincoln Highway. The article said it should open in September; however, even after construction on Gish’s furniture store started, 7Brew had not showed up.
WGAL posted saying that a Tropical Smoothie would also be in the new mini shopping outlet across from the furniture store.
Starbucks baristas, as well as customers, were getting concerned that the 7Brew would put Starbucks out of business. Right now, the truth is that no one knows what will happen to Starbucks once 7Brew opens.
Madison Landis, a barista at Lincoln Highway Starbucks says that she “doesn’t think the Starbucks across the street will close.” She believes that both stores have a different enough menu that they can both live in tandem.
Landis also mentioned that Tanger outlets being behind the local Starbucks is an advantage because of the foot traffic, while 7Brew only has a drive thru.
Landis stated, “I believe the effect will be seen mostly in the first couple weeks of opening, but after that I think our sales will likely go back to normal.”
According to The Lancaster Ledger, the 7Brew will have a double drive thru and a 550-square foot-building.
The location of the new buildings make an easy entrance and exit, parking spaces, and a clean environment that will attract customers to buy their coffee.
Starbucks baristas from Lincoln Highway have also reported that in the past few months the location has lost around 13 employees. They have struggled to hire new partners, train new employees and keep the barista’s at the store. They also have a cafe without seating, no bathroom, and a small parking lot that people struggle to exit, which most of the public does not appreciate.
7Brew’s menu has a largely customizable menu, just like Starbucks menu. Both 7Brew and Starbucks menus have refreshers, teas, and coffee. 7Brew does not sell food besides some small snacks, compared to Starbucks’ large food menu with breakfast, pastries, lunch items and snacks.
It seems that the 7Brew will be placed when the other construction has finished and workers have cleaned the plot.
Biz417, an online news site, explains that 7Brew stores are modular buildings that get delivered by a truck and placed down on a foundation instead of being built on site.
Sometime in the near future the 7Brew should open to the public, serving drinks through their drive-thru only store.
