CV football is carrying a historic game-winning streak on their shoulders. After coming off their second year of an undefeated regular season, they have a lot to lose, as this streak is what is making a name for Conestoga Valley’s football program.
Throughout the year, CV will be facing many opponents that could jeopardize that streak. Senior wide receiver Anthony Rodriguez stated, “ I feel like there will be a lot of tough games. The team we are focused the most on would have to be Exeter.”
Although several opponents have given the Bucks a hard time in recent years, they still managed 26 regular-season wins in a row. Governor Mifflin, Ephrata, Cocalico, and most importantly, Exeter Township will pose the biggest threats to the Buckskins this season. After a devastating playoff loss to Exeter last year, that will without a doubt be the biggest revenge game for the Bucks. Starting quarterback Camryn Bair (12) said, “Exeter is the obvious one; we need to step up and give them a loss after last year.”
An important date for fans to clear is Friday, September 25th for the big game against Ephrata. This rivalry always brings a heavily competitive atmosphere, and should be a great game to watch. Junior kicker Mason Andrews explained, “there is always a lot of pressure when playing Ephrata. They’ve been hand-in-hand with us for a while now. With how the season is going, I’m hoping we can prove ourselves and win against them all.”
Bair, the defensive-back-turned-quarterback, has transitioned flawlessly into the spot, assisting the team in their early dominance over the first 2 teams they won against this season.
Another game fans won’t want to miss will be Exeter Township on October 10th. Energy will be great, and the stands will be filled while the Bucks go head-to-head with their greatest rival, trying to redeem themselves against one of the only teams that gave them a loss.
